چکیده

The effect of gain suppression on amplitude squeezing with a Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser is studied with a semiclassical model. A strong decrease of the internal amplitude noise and an optimum biasing point with minimum amplitude noise are demonstrated. Small gain nonlinearities improve external compression.

Generation of amplitude-squeezed light from a room-temperature Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser.

Amplitude-squeezed light with intensity f luctuations 29% below the standard quantum limit (SQL) is produced from a pump-suppressed room-temperature semiconductor laser, corresponding to 41% below the SQL after correction for detection eff iciency. Excess noise, which degrades the observed squeezing, appears to be associated with the presence of weak longitudinal side modes. PACS numbers: 42.50...

Intensity fluctuations correlation for a Fabry Perot semiconductor laser: A semiclassical analysis

The correlation between the amplitude fluctuations of two laser beams emitted by a semiconductor laser is calculated using a semiclassical laser model including vacuum fluctuations present at the laser facets as well as phenomena such as spatial hole burning and gain suppression. A thorough analysis shows strong influence of the laser structure and parameters. We concentrate on the case of Fabr...

Reduction of semiconductor laser diode phase and amplitude noise in interferometric fiber optic sensors.

An optical configuration employing two conventional Michelson interferometers and a fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer connected in parallel is used to demonstrate the principle of common mode rejection of both the amplitude and frequency noise of a semiconductor laser. Common mode noise rejection is maximized when the outputs of the two interferometers with matched path imbalance, fringe visibil...

Interrogation of a fiber Fabry-Perot sensor by current modulation of a diode laser

February 2, 2008 Abstract— We present a method for remote interrogation of passive fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot resonators, employing current modulation of the diode laser source. With the presence of both RF amplitude and frequency modulation, it is a variant of the ultra-sensitive Pound-Drever-Hall laser frequency locking technique. We demonstrate that current modulation and interferometri...

A pulsated weak-resonant-cavity laser diode with transient wavelength scanning and tracking for injection-locked RZ transmission.

By spectrally slicing a single longitudinal-mode from a master weak-resonant-cavity Fabry-Perot laser diode with transient wavelength scanning and tracking functions, the broadened self-injection-locking of a slave weak-resonant-cavity Fabry-Perot laser diode is demonstrated to achieve bi-directional transmission in a 200-GHz array-waveguide-grating channelized dense-wavelength-division-multipl...
